In this article I am going to discuss about the importance of having a real purpose for your online business. Having a specific purpose and knowing what that is will help to motivate you and to give you the drive you need to get things done.
With any kind of business you are in the end helping other people whether it is providing solutions, providing physical help, manufacturing products that help people do something etc. All businesses help people in some way or another and therefore your purpose needs to be focused on helping other people to do something specific.
If you know what you can help people with then that becomes your purpose.
For example, if you are in the dog training niche and you know how to help people train their dog in a particular area then that is your purpose - to help people train their dog so that they don't need to be concerned about their house getting destroyed or their dog causing problems to other people.
Once you know what your purposes it becomes a lot clearer who your market is. In the above example your market would be people who have a dog or who are considering getting a dog. Knowing who your target market is then makes it easier for you to find out how you can communicate with them.
There are plenty of places that offer help to dog owners on the Internet and these would be ideal websites for you to visit and get involved with so that you can begin to offer valuable help. By doing so people will see you as an authority and someone who will be able to help them further.
If your purpose is focused solely on making money online then you have no direction at all. That doesn't help you to understand your target market or how to focus on your ideal customer.
Having the wrong focus and the wrong purpose can destroy any efforts you might make to build your online business.
Think about your own Internet business and the reason why you are offering what you offer. Is it purely for you to make money or is it because you are trying to help people achieve or solve something that you know how to do?
If you are not sure then just have a look at the products you are trying to sell. What do those products actually help people to do? Even if you are an affiliate and you haven't created the product yourself the products that you are trying to sell will be helping other people in some way.
Once you are clear in your mind about what solutions you are offering then you can take that as being your purpose and you will find it far easier to focus your marketing efforts in the right places and to the right people.
