Starting your own information business is easy if you know how. The problem is that there are so many different ideas on how to go about it that it starts to get confusing. In this article I am going to tell you exactly what to do so that you will be able to start straight away after reading!

It is a business that provides information for people who need it. Online, this information is in digital format so that it can be downloaded instantly.
Your information could be written, put on video or audio. It is up to you and the type of format that will get the information across in the best way.
What Do I Need?
First of all you need to decide what topic your information will be about. This can be anything you like provided that it is information that people are actively looking for already. If no one is looking for this information then of course no on will purchase it!
Once you have decided your topic you can then purchase your own domain name. You will need a website that you have control over - so ideally one that you own. Choose a name that fits with your business topic and will be easily remembered.
Having purchased your domain name you will then need to host your site somewhere so that the data is kept safe and accessible to people searching the internet.
Finding Your Prospects
Once you have your website and you have information on there that lets people know what you offer and why it would benefit them, then you need to find those people who will benefit! In other words find your ideal prospects.
Since you are marketing online you would use websites that your prospects would visit to get visibility to your own website.
This might be a Facebook Group, a blog, a forum, a discussion site or sharing site.
Offering An Incentive
When people visit your website you should offer them something that they would find helpful. The reason is so that you can build a list of people who have agreed to receive email messages from you. This is called building your list.
Having a list of interested followers is the best way to build a deeper relationship and prove your worth.
Offering Solutions
Your email list is the most valuable part of your information business. The people on your list will be your loyal customers if you treat them right! So get to know them and let them get to know you. Find out what they need help with and then offer that help.
Don't be afraid to charge for that help - as this is the way you will generate income.

In this article I am going to discuss whether you should build a business promoting affiliate products or if instead you should build a business creating your own products. There will be a huge difference to your business!
First of all I want to ask you 3 questions.
Question 1
Have you ever bought a product on how to do affiliate marketing? Or have you ever purchased some tool that will help you with affiliate marketing?
Question 2
If so then let me ask you another question.
Do you think that the people who have created these products are earning more from their own affiliate marketing efforts or from those products they have created?
Question 3
Last question! Do people who create their own products encourage others to promote those products? In other words, encourage you to become an affiliate for their products?
What are you thinking right now? Is the puzzle falling into place?
The Truth
You can earn an income from affiliate marketing. Some people earn a lot of money from marketing other peoples products.
However, if you create your own products you have the potential to earn even more. That is why people create products that teach other people how to make money by promoting affiliate products! They have learned that they will make more money that way. They will earn virtually 100% of the commission.
There are other benefits too.
You'll be building your own business and reputation and keeping your customers. We all know that once someone has bought something and they have benefited from that product, then they will be more likely to buy again - from that same source.
Information Products
The main thing that puts people off having their own product is the thought that they might need to start manufacturing something and of course that would involve huge costs. Therefore creating information products or digital products that don't require storage or manufacturing costs enables anyone to become a product creator.
How Does It Work?
First you need to decide what topic you could produce information on. Perhaps hobbies or other areas where you already have skills would be a good place to start. Think about the kind of questions your friends ask you for help about.
Once you have a few ideas look to see if this is a popular topic and people would be willing to buy that sort of information. If people are already buying then you know there are potential customers out there. Make sure that they are buying via the internet though - because this will be your medium for reaching them.
Find out what things people struggle with in this topic and make a list of all the problems and issues they face.
Now you have a list of product ideas. If you can explain how to solve all of those problems you will have not just one but a few products to sell! They could be ebooks, videos, coaching classes, audios, etc. Anything that can be implemented or downloaded online.

What Is Holding You Back From Starting Your Online Business?

If something is stopping you from starting your own online business then you can do something about it. Here are a few of the most common reasons that prevent people from starting their own online business and some tips on overcoming them.
Not Enough Time
Time is often used as an excuse for not being able to implement the things or tasks that are needed to see growth in your business.
It does take time and if you work full time during the day then you may only have the evening to work on your own business.
However, I find that people forget to look at the bigger picture. Rather than spending that one hour on something productive they waste the hour because they believe one hour won't make a difference.
That's not true. If you spent just one hour a day during the week you would be able to work on your business 5 hours in total. What could you achieve in 5 hours?
Within a month you would be able to work 20 hours on your business! That amount of time will and does make a difference.
Not Enough Money
It seems that many believe it costs a lot of money to start an online business. This is not necessarily true. If you have money available then you might be able to achieve things quicker but without that money you can still get started - it might take a bit longer that's all.
There are many places that offer you free websites - such as weebly. After some time you might want to get your own website but you can always start with a free one.
There are also free autoresponders - such as mail chimp - that you can use to build your own email list. Although I don't recommend this, if you are really stuck then you could opt for one of these.
I would suggest you sign up to an autoresponder that also has a paid version as it is more likely to be reliable. Also make sure that you can export your list of subscribers later on if you then upgrade to a paid autopresponder.
Not Enough Knowledge
Years ago this excuse might have been valid but today this is no longer the case. There is plenty of free information available online that gives you the help you need on how to start your own business using the internet.
Just have a look at the videos on You Tube and you'll find tons of help on how to do specific tasks.
The one thing that you need to be careful about is that you follow a proven system or blueprint.
There are many business ideas that don't work or may not be suitable for you - your own skills and preferences.

How To Increase Your Opt In Rate By Making Your Website Pages Work For You

We often hear about how to create a website and that you need to have some way for visitors to sign up to an email list. So you put a web form in your sidebar. What about the actual pages or posts on your website? What is their function?
Unless you understand the role of your website then you won't have a clear plan for the purpose of the pages within your web site.
Think about your about page - what is the purpose of that page? Well, it's obviously to tell your readers a little bit about yourself and perhaps your business. Is that all?
If you take time to check out a few sites and read the about page you will probably notice one of two things:
  1. Some sites are using that about page for a specific purpose - you know this because there is a call to action on that page.
  2. Some sites are using that page to purely inform you about the site, themselves and/or their business. Nothing else. No call to action.
Which is best?
I believe that it is an opportunity missed if you don't have some call to action on every single page on your website. (Obviously I'm not including legal pages).
You might think that just because you have a web form in your sidebar that you have a call to action - it's visible of every single page.
However, I have tested this on one of my own sites and I know that the form in the sidebar is not as effective as a specific call to action within the page or blog post itself.
Perhaps we have been so conditioned to see opt in forms in the sidebar that we just tune it out?
Maybe.
I think that there is another reason.
Once someone has read through your information or blog post they know a little bit more about you. If you then have a call to action offering something in return for signing up to your email list then you no longer have a cold lead - they are warm.
In other words they have decided from reading your content that you are knowledgeable, that you seem to know what you are talking about and are probably someone who could help.
You've begun the process of developing a relationship with that visitor.
Therefore imagine if you had a call to action on every single page or post in your site. Do you think it would make a difference to your overall opt in rate?
