Why Is Content Marketing Still The Most Effective Marketing Method?

Content marketing has been around for a very long time and yet it is still one of the preferred and most effective methods of marketing online. In this article I am going to discuss why this is and how to go about it.
Effective marketing is all about building relationships with your prospects so that they are in a better position to make a buying decision with you or your company.
If you think about your offline experiences you will notice that sales assistants are in the shop to help to make your purchase. They do this by building a relationship with you - asking you questions, demonstrating their expertise (if applicable) and building rapport.
Marketing online is no different in that people still want a real customer service experience but often this is lacking in the virtual world.
By using content to market your business you enable your prospect to connect with you in a way that a banner ad for example, or a three word text advertisement does not.
What Happens When Someone Reads Your Content?
When your prospects read your content they are able to make a decision as to whether you are likely to be able to help them or not. If they like your style and your way of communicating they will immediately connect with you.
Of course the opposite is also true! But this is an important filtering mechanism. It's all about getting quality traffic and visitors rather than quantity.
It is better to develop solid relationships with people who like your style because they are more likely to purchase from you later on.
What Content Should You Focus On?
So creating content online is a great way to start building relationships straight away and to filter off the people who are unlikely to become buyers.
The type of content you write or deliver should be conversational and natural. Since it needs to give your visitors an insight into who you are and your style and knowledge it must come across naturally and of course you should be yourself rather than try to copy someone else's style!
Also it is best if you resist the temptation to use your content to advertise and show off your business! There is a place for that and it's in your sales letter or sales page!
In the end you need to decide what you want for your own business.
