If you are just starting to build your own website then you need to include an about me page. In this article I am going to give you some ideas on what to write in your about me page.
When visitors come to your site it is always nice to have an about me page that describes more about yourself and your business and allows your visitors to begin to build up a relationship with you.
The key to any successful business is building good solid relationships with your customers. Remember that any visitor to your site is a potential customer!
You can write anything in your about me page and it is up to you how personal you make it. Just don't write anything false and only write what you are comfortable with the general public knowing about.
Since this is your business website it would be best to use your about page to describe some of the key benefits people would experience by doing business with you.
However, I know that sometimes this may not be possible if you have not yet created a business plan or decided how you are going to brand yourself. Therefore I have given you some ideas on what you can include straight away and then you can build upon that in the future.
Here are some ideas:
- Write about why you have decided to start this business. What is your passion?
- Why you are interested in the subject of your business. What experiences and skills do you have?
- If relevant you could describe any previous work you have done that would increase your credibility.
- You could describe your dream job.
- Explain the motivation behind why you have started your own online business.
- Why have you decided to change your job and start this now?
- Your business mission statement.
- Your brand values and beliefs.
- What services you provide and why.
- Who is the inspiration behind your new venture?
- What people can expect if they do business with you.
- A little about your customer service.
As you become more experienced in your online business you may want to change your about me page to reflect this. For example, you may not have developed a brand yet but this should be something you work on in the future. Once you have developed this you will want to add it to your about page.
Use this page to develop your credibility and expertise in a way that is going to be helpful and beneficial to your visitors.
