How to Get to Know Your Customers Better

In this article I am going to discuss how to get to know your customers well. You need to be able to identify with them and have in your mind a real live individual in front of you.
This enables you to really target your communication and offers. You need to know the kind of issues they are facing and what things they are really struggling with. What kind of help are they are looking for.
You can do that by going online and visiting forums and discussion groups, then being interacting to find out the kind of things that people are talking about and struggling with. However, once you have your own email list or your own following, then this becomes much easier. You can actually ask your subscribers for feedback and help.
Customer Feedback
Supposing someone has purchased a product from you and you ask for feedback. I've discovered that people either provide feedback if something is really bad or if they have really built a positive two way relationship with you.
So if you get no feedback it isn't necessarily a bad thing. As you obtain more and more customers you will find that you get feedback from those who have developed an interactive relationship with you. You may also find that feedback will be from people who are likely to be your repeat customers.
Interactive Emails
Ask your subscribers questions in your emails. Ask them what things they are struggling with at the moment. Always ask questions to keep that channel of communication open. The more interaction you get, the more you will be able to understand exactly what your customer needs are and what their current challenges are.
A Survey
You could add a survey and ask people to answer specific questions. You could provide an incentive for taking the survey but I've discovered that if you do this then you generally get people who are just interested in getting a freebie rather than giving you real answers in the survey.
I have found one of the best times to take a survey is actually at the point when people sign up to your email list.
If you do a survey then make sure that your questions are highly specific so that the answers you obtain are useful to you.
When you're developing relationships with your customers you need to focus on a two-way relationship so that you can get to know them better.
